Bedroom furniture layout is crucial to your bedroom's enjoyment. Not only do you need to think about space and proportions, you also need to think about style and comfort as well. Of course, not everybody will necessarily need all the above (and most certainly could not even put it all together, if you do have a small bedroom) so prioritise the key essentials first. I'll run through some of the most important things here.
* Bed. The most important item in your bedroom is of course your bed. There is no way around this. Therefore, make sure you get a nice big bed, preferably with a headboard already attached to it.
* Bedroom furniture. Most bedroom sets are big, bulky items. If it is a two-seater, you need to be able to shift it around easily. Four-seaters are usually fairly easy to move but you should be fine with three or four if you have the space. Try not to get stuck with a big wooden bed if it won't fit through your door.
* Bedside cabinets and chests. You need storage in your bedroom. Lots of it. You'll need somewhere to store your nightstands, your cupboards, your remote control etc. Look for a range of big cabinets that are big enough to hold all your bits and pieces.
* Bedroom furniture. Once you've got your bed, your next priority needs to be the bedroom furniture. What are you going to put on it? Most people will find a day bed useful, as long as it's big enough and it isn't in a corner. A chest of drawers works well too, as long as you can get it to fit through your door.
* chests and dressers. These are big items. Lots of them. You can usually fit a lot of clothing into one chest, so think about a few different designs and make sure they all match.
* Dressers. Same principle applies here. You can usually fit a lot of clothes into one dresser. Also, there are many different designs, materials and sizes. Make sure you know what you want before you go shopping.
Once you've got your bed and everything else in place, it's time to consider what you're going to do with the rest of your bedroom furniture. If you're short of space, then consider a bunk bed. If you don't mind sharing a bed, then get a couple of twin or full size beds. Remember that when you are setting up your bedroom furniture, you want to be sure that the pieces all work together, don't clash and that they compliment each other. Use coordinating colors, or different ones for accents.
* Theme. It's very easy to get caught up in the decor of a room and neglect to think about the furniture that will set it apart. Make sure you give the room a theme before you start decorating. A theme will make it easier to choose the right pieces of furniture, especially since the furniture in the room will be a consistent color or tone.
* Color Pallette. There are a lot of different colors to choose from, so this can be difficult. The trick is to think about the color scheme of the bed and the items you are buying and build around those. If you are in a neutral color family, then this shouldn't be too difficult.
Once you have all of your items in place, you should think about organization schemes. A common room organization scheme is to group the items in a way that you have read in an ad or online. For example, you might want to group your dresser with your nightstand, etc. When you have the items stacked in a logical fashion, you will find it a lot easier to move the items around your bedroom.
Bedroom furniture is simple. You can buy furniture that is plain, expensive looking, and you can even buy pieces that you can customize. This gives you a lot of flexibility and makes decorating your bedroom fun and creative. Just think about how much more you will be able to accomplish!
